Ross Bengel joined the accounting faculty at LMU in 1984 and retired in 2013. He primarily taught tax accounting courses, including "Federal Income Taxation" and "Tax Planning for Managers." He is considered an expert on tax policy, small business taxation, family tax planning and like-kind exchanges. For three years, Bengel was holder of the Grosch Professorship and organized several high-profile guest speakers for the college. Before LMU, Bengel spent several years in the Washington, DC, area where he worked as a tax manager and advisor as well as a staff assistant for then Senator William B. Spong (D-Va.). He is a CPA and a member of the South Carolina Bar, the American Association of Attorney – CPAs and the International Documentary Association. Bengel also produced education and documentary films and is a member of Beta Gamma Sigma.
